Dental implants are dental technology used to restore a patient’s ability to bite and chew, as well as to improve the appearance of teeth. Implants are most commonly recommended for patients who suffer from tooth decay or gum disease. Dental implants are surgically implanted into the jaw in place of a damaged tooth, with a crown installed on top of the implant to act as a usable tooth. However, many patients believe the myth that dental implants can be applied in a single appointment, which is not true. Dental implants take time to apply correctly, and if they are rushed, the implant will not have the desired results and may cause more pain to the patient.

At Chicago Veneers, Dr. Ema knows that the best way to make sure your dental implants are applied correctly is for multiple treatments to be to guard against any error with the implant.

Multiple Sessions

Most implants are applied in at least three sessions. During the first session, measurements are taken so that the implant is perfectly matched to the patient’s jaw. This ensures that the implant fits well and will stay securely in place. At the following two appointments, multiple sections of the implant are installed. This process happens in separate sessions to make sure each piece of the implant is securely in place and working effectively before the next piece is added on. Without a session dedicated to measurement, any implant inserted into the jaw will not fit correctly, coming loose or feeling very painful when being used to bite or chew food. Pausing in between treatments also allows the patients to heal before the next procedure so that there is no unnecessary damage done and pain caused.

All-On 4 Dental Implants

At Chicago Veneers, Dr. Ema offers All-On 4 dental implants to patients with severe tooth decay and gum disease. Patients who need full arch replacements will also be offered these dental implants, as well as those who have significant bone loss. These implants are inserted without bone grafting while the patient is under local anesthesia to avoid pain.

With All-On 4 implants, the implanted tooth will appear as a natural tooth and allows patients to bite with more force due to being secured tightly in the jaw. These implants are also more stable than dentures and do not cause any inflammation in the jaw or gums. They also last anywhere from ten to fifteen years without replacement, however for best results, patients should seek a dental wellness check yearly.

These implants take about six months to fully install at a pace that ensures comfort for the patient and effective installment. At your first appointment, Dr. Ema will x-ray your mouth to create an implant that fits your mouth. After measurement, then installment can take place.
